The goal was to beat last year's ringette food drive. The inaugural ringette food drive in January 2021 raised $2,130 plus 1,111 food items for the Regina Food Bank. Back then, there were no ringette games or tournaments due to COVID. For 2022, the ringette food drive took place on two Sundays, January 23rd and January 30th, to work around a much busier ringette schedule. Despite the busier season, the 2nd Annual Iceville Ringette Food Drive Contest smashed the goal, raising $5,280 and 1,573 food items weighing 2,100 lbs! This year's food drive was a partnership between the Regina Ringette Association and the Buffalo Plains Ringette Association. Every dollar donated to the Regina Food Bank secures three meals. Every pound of food secures one meal. That means the 2022 edition of the Iceville Ringette Food Drive raised 17,940 meals!
To support this food drive, the Regina Exhibition Association Limited and Iceville presented by SaskTel provided prizes of a team skate at Iceville. The top 6 teams that collected the most donations received an ice time at Iceville for up to 50 people per team! Plus, all remaining participating teams were entered into a draw to win one of 3 more Iceville ice times.
